IBM Information Development

After finishing my undergraduate degree in Technical Communication at Coventry University, I joined the Information Development department at IBM United Kingdom Laboratories, Ltd. as a Graduate Information Developer.

As a Graduate Information Developer, I gained a solid understanding of how a large multinational corporation like IBM creates, maintains, and publishes product documentation. I learned all about the importance of different markup languages, including GML, SGML, and DITA XML. Demonstrated a keen interest in information architecture and completely restructured the entire IBM WebSphere MQ hardcopy library into a task-oriented, topic-based, information centre hosted using the Eclipse Help System.

Contributed to the design of the Eclipse Help System with my colleagues in the IBM Toronto Laboratory.

Soon after joining IBM, I developed a keen interest in IBM User Centered Design (UCD) and soon changed roles to join the UCD team.
